Forthcoming Events

World Book Day: We were sorry to have to cancel World Book Day due to the bad weather but will still go ahead on Thursday 8th March. I’m sure the weather will still be very cold so if the children could wear layers under their costume that would be great. Don’t forget to bring in your child’s favourite book with their name inside.

Easter Bonnet Parade: Children are asked to make bonnets/hats at home and bring them to pre-school to wear in the parade which will start at 11.15 and finish as per the normal session on 27th March. If this is not your child’s normal session they are very welcome to come along at 11.15 with their adult to take part. There will be a prize for the best bonnet/hat and a small prize for each child that enters.

Could we please ask that the children take their coats in the morning to the back of the hall as after circle time the children are desperate to get outside and this makes the process a lot quicker. Staff will be on hand to help.

Saltash Pebble Art

We would like to take part in the new Facebook craze ‘Saltash Pebble Art’ which involves the children decorating a pebble and then hiding them around Saltash for other children to find. This is a fun way to get children outside with their parents and incorporating exercise in to the process. Could we ask that children bring a pebble into pre-school w/c 12.03.18 so that they can decorate them throughout the week.

Healthy Early Years (HEY)

Karen Goulty our HEY lead has been looking at healthy recipes for our children. She has recently attended an ‘Eating Well for under Fives’ training course and has come back with lots of fabulous ideas. Karen’s healthy eating tip of the week is that children need oily fish for bone and brain development and we will be making a mackerel dip for snack w/c 12.03.18. We have been assured that the children will love it!!!!!

We would like to thank one of our parents Kate Daw for bringing in the ‘Big Baking Book’ (Ella’s Kitchen) with lots of great recipes for our cooking sessions.

Trip to Clark’s Village Street

We were very sorry to have to cancel our trip to Clarks Village Street. Our numbers were very low as we originally booked a 50 seater coach and in the end even dropping it down to a 24 seater coach couldn’t fill the seats. We are now looking at a date of 7th July which is yet to be confirmed by the coach company so will keep you posted.

We are trying to encourage the older children to come in to the hall by themselves promoting their independence and getting them ready for school. We tried this last year in the summer term and realised that children needed a bit longer to adjust to this, so thought we would start in the spring term. This will be a gradual process and the staff will be on hand to support.

Could we please ask that if you are unable to access Tapestry that you let a member of staff know. We use this not only as a learning journal to let you know what your child is up to but also to let you know of any important announcements i.e. pre-school closure due to snow.

Important Information

Could we please ask parents/carers that they do not park on the double yellow lines outside of the pre-school on drop off or pick up times. This makes it dangerous for our children and families to see oncoming traffic whilst crossing the road. We do offer parking permits for the cark park opposite the pre-school for these times.
