Safeguarding

Safeguarding

Our preschool community has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are in our care.

We take safeguarding very seriously, and ensure that all relevant policies are shared with our community. All our staff and volunteers are DBS checked, and two references are requested on appointment to a role.

If you have a concern related to safeguarding, in the first instance, please contact Tracey Pritchard who is the designated Safeguarding Lead within preschool.

Sometimes we may need to share information, and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will endeavour to ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with their parents / carers first, unless we have reason to believe that this is not in the child’s best interests.

Concerns about a child or young person

If you have immediate concerns or are worried about a child or young person's safety, please telephone the Multi Agency Referral Unit (MARU) on 0300 123 1116. The MARU provides a multi-disciplinary response to concerns about the welfare or safety of a child of young person in line with statutory guidance from Our Safeguarding Children Partnership for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Covid

Covid-19 has certainly been a challenge over the last few years and we have had to follow continually changing guidance within our setting to ensure the safety of our children, families and practitioners. Although life seems to be getting back to some sort of normality at last, we do still have clear guidance in place (from the government and Public Health England) with details of the actions we need to take to reduce the risk of transmission of coronavirus and ensuring we do not have an outbreak at our preschool.

  1. Ensure good hygiene for everyone.

  2. Maintain appropriate cleaning regimes.

  3. Keep occupied spaces well ventilated.

  4. Follow public health advice on testing, self isolation and managing confirmed cases of COVID-19.
